Jennifer Erickson Announced as New CEO of Sonora Quest Laboratories
Sonora Quest Laboratories, along with its parent company Laboratory Sciences of Arizona (LSA), has appointed Jennifer Erickson as the Chief Executive Officer-Elect. Erickson will succeed David Dexter, who is set to retire in March after an impressive tenure of over 26 years leading the organization.
Leadership Transition and Future Plans
Effective February 2, 2023, Dexter will collaborate with Erickson to ensure a seamless leadership transition before his retirement on March 31. Under Dexter's leadership since 1999, Sonora Quest has become the market leader in clinical laboratory testing in Arizona, conducting more than 100 million diagnostic tests annually.
“Reflecting on my years as CEO fills me with a mix of gratitude, pride, and nostalgia,” stated Dexter. He continued, “The relationships developed and the innovative solutions implemented during my tenure have left a lasting impact on our organization.”
Legacy of Innovation and Growth
Dexter has guided the company through notable milestones, including the launch of its direct-access testing platform, My Lab ReQuest™, in 2015 and the expansion of COVID-19 diagnostic testing through the initiative known as Operation Catapult in 2020. He has also fostered significant partnerships with community organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Aunt Rita's Foundation, further enhancing diagnostic accessibility for Arizona residents.
Erickson aims to carry forward Dexter's legacy of growth and innovation. With more than 20 years of expertise in leading high-performance healthcare organizations, she previously served as Chief Financial Officer at Sonora Quest from 1999 to 2004 and more recently held executive roles at Clin-Path Associates/Pathology Specialists of Arizona.
Future Vision and Commitment
Dexter expressed his confidence in Erickson’s leadership, stating, “I personally mentored Jennifer for 26 years, and I know she embodies the spirit of a fearless leader.” Erickson responded, “It is an honor to return to lead the company that provided me with invaluable lessons in healthcare leadership. I look forward to continuing our commitment to patient-centered diagnostics and fostering partnerships.”
