Bird and Lyft Enhance Shared Mobility Across North America
Denver, Dec. 18, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In a significant development for sustainable transportation, Bird and Lyft have announced two key initiatives aimed at enhancing shared mobility options across North America. This collaboration focuses on integrating Bird e-bikes into the Lyft app, providing users with seamless access to eco-friendly travel alternatives.
Bird E-Bikes Integrated into Lyft App
As part of their expanded partnership, Bird and Lyft Urban Solutions have successfully integrated Bird e-bikes into the Lyft app. This functionality allows riders to easily locate and unlock Bird e-bikes directly from their Lyft interface. Following the successful launch of e-scooters last year, this integration has demonstrated strong early traction, particularly in Denver, where Bird e-bike rides have increased by over 50% in the first month alone.
This integration is currently live in several cities, including:
- Denver
- Nashville
- Cleveland
Additional cities are anticipated to join the integration list in 2026. This partnership is designed to facilitate multimodal transportation options, helping to alleviate urban congestion while promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
“Integrating our vehicles into the Lyft app gives millions of people simple, immediate access to cleaner ways to move,” said Stewart Lyons, Co-CEO of Bird. “Lyft is committed to transportation systems that help people move seamlessly,” added Michael Brous, Head of Lyft Urban Solutions. “This partnership gives riders more ways to get where they're going through one simple app.”
Winter Hibernation Pilot in Canadian Markets
This month, Bird launched a winter pilot program in Lyft’s Canadian markets. Under this initiative, riders will receive notifications directing them to Lyft whenever local Bird vehicles are unavailable due to seasonal hibernation. This pilot aims to provide a reliable alternative for winter trips in cities such as:
- Halifax
- Edmonton
- Ottawa
- Calgary
To encourage participation, new Lyft riders during this pilot will receive a promotional offer of 50% off two rides. This initiative seeks to ensure that riders can navigate their winter journeys with ease while contributing to a stronger multimodal transportation ecosystem.
A Commitment to Sustainable Urban Mobility
Bird and Lyft are united by their commitment to developing transportation systems that enhance connectivity, reduce reliance on personal vehicles, and increase access to sustainable travel options. By investing in these initiatives, both companies aim to create more livable, accessible, and environmentally friendly urban spaces.
The integration of Bird’s innovative B100 e-bike model, which has proven to be in demand—reportedly up to four times higher than Bird's previous offerings—underscores this commitment to advancing shared mobility throughout North America.
