"Energizing Equity" event to highlight progress in Count on Us Kalamazoo! campaign for income qualified residents
KALAMAZOO, Mich., Sept. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers Energy is marking the progress of its "Count on Us Kalamazoo!" initiative Saturday, September 13 during an "Energizing Equity" event in Kalamazoo as part of the energy provider's commitment to energy waste reduction in some of its most underserved communities.
"Count on Us Kalamazoo!" helps neighbors achieve impactful energy savings through various customer programs to help lower customers' electric and gas bills and make energy efficient upgrades to their homes based on need. Consumers Energy hosts a series of community engagement activities all year long aiming to educate customers on the variety of programs available to them.
The programs to be featured during the September 13 event include:

- "Helping Neighbors" free home energy analysis sign-up
- Storm safety tips
- Energy safety
- Careers in energy
- "Green Giving" income qualified renewable energy offering

Since announcing its effort in February targeting neighbors in three Kalamazoo zip codes, Consumers Energy is proud to have helped customers create even temperatures throughout their homes to help save on energy bills through a collaboration with duct sealing partner Aeroseal. Consumers Energy has performed over 90 home assessments, providing education and energy saving items that have been directly installed by qualified technicians, including pipe wrap installation, replacing existing thermostats with smart thermostats, window film installation, and HVAC tune-ups and other premium home upgrades.
The Kalamazoo "Energizing Equity" event is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglass Community Association at 1000 W. Paterson Street and will feature a high energy, family-friendly day of games, food, giveaways and will highlight a variety of resources available to customers to help achieve energy equity and savings for all.
