SPIE Signs European Framework Agreement with Tesla to Deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems

Cergy, France, 15 December 2025 – SPIE, a leading independent European provider of multi-technical services in energy and communications, has announced a significant European framework agreement with Tesla (TSLA) for the implementation of battery energy storage systems (BESS). This partnership, which has a renewable term of three years, encompasses all SPIE group subsidiaries in Europe that specialize in BESS installation, thereby enhancing the collaboration between these two companies on ongoing and completed projects in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France.

A Strategic Framework to Accelerate Energy Storage Growth

Energy storage is critical to the energy transition, facilitating the integration of electricity generated from renewable sources, like wind and solar, into the grid. Through the use of Tesla Megapack solutions, SPIE will deliver high-value technical services that include:

  • Engineering and balance of plant (BoP) work
  • Connection to high- and medium-voltage networks
  • Installation of auxiliary systems such as security, lighting, fire detection, and video surveillance
  • Commissioning of installations

This framework agreement aims to standardize both legal and operational conditions for all Megapack projects across Europe, beginning with installations in France and expanding into opportunities in countries like Poland and Germany, where SPIE has established expertise in this sector.

Solid References in a Growing Sector

SPIE has participated in notable energy storage projects utilizing Tesla Megapack technology, such as:

  • Ville-sur-Haine, Belgium: Installation of a 50MW/200MWh BESS system (53 Megapacks), including the supply of BoP and a 150kV connection to the public power grid.
  • Vlissingen, Netherlands: Involvement in the "Mufasa" project, projected to become the largest BESS site in the Netherlands with 372 Megapacks, totaling 1.4 GWh.
  • Eure, France: Installation of a 100 MW/200MWh BESS unit, including a 90 kV electrical substation for connection to the RTE grid. Work commenced in September 2025 and is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2026.

Strengthening the European Energy Transition

These projects position SPIE as a pivotal player in Europe's energy storage landscape, benefiting from international expertise and a commitment to ensuring that operations meet the highest international standards. By choosing to standardize practices on a European level, SPIE is enhancing its capacity to assist customers in decarbonizing their infrastructure and fostering a flexible and resilient energy mix.

"This agreement reflects the confidence that a key global player in the energy sector has placed in SPIE's technical skills and pan-European organization," stated Tobias Zaers, Business Development and Marketing Director at SPIE. "We have developed collaboration between our subsidiaries with the systematic sharing of experiences, allowing us to capitalize on our national expertise. By merging our industrial know-how, local presence, and collective intelligence, we are contributing to a more sustainable energy model centered on reliability, performance, and efficiency."
