(NYSE: TRV) today announced the launch of Travelers Across America, a national initiative to restore and protect historic landmarks in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Timed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, the effort reflects Travelers’ long-standing commitment to strengthening community resilience. “Travelers Across America is an expression of our enduring optimism in the American story – past, present and future,” said Alan Schnitzer, Chairman and CEO of Travelers. “By investing in the restoration and resilience of historic landmarks, we are honoring our country’s history, as well as the spirit of service and innovation that will carry us forward. That is what our business is about: protecting what matters today so we can continue building for tomorrow.” Travelers will award a total of $1 million in grants to the National Trust as part of a partnership to restore cherished landmarks in four states: California, Connecticut, Louisiana and Minnesota. Though distinct in geography, history and culture, these places share a common link through their vulnerability to natural disasters. Each location will host on-site programming and community service events, bringing together Travelers employees, National Trust partners and community members to support both the restoration and the long-term resilience of the neighborhoods surrounding these landmarks. These efforts will also highlight the role of insurance access and affordability in sustaining healthy communities. “Travelers Across America reflects our commitment to civic engagement, especially at the local level,” said Janice Brunner, Head of Civic Engagement at Travelers. “As we celebrate our history, we are also strengthening the resilience of these communities for the next 250 years and beyond.” “By making accessible the many stories they hold, historic places foster a sense of connection – with our global roots and with each other,” said Carol Quillen, President and CEO of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. “Reviving meaningful sites – the places where our history happened – both honors our national heritage as we look to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary and reminds us that the future is something we build together.” In addition to its partnership with the National Trust, Travelers Across America will include programming throughout the year for Travelers employees, agents, brokers and community members to celebrate this historic anniversary. The National Trust for Historic Preservation is a privately funded nonprofit organization dedicated to helping communities maintain and enhance the power of historic places. Chartered by Congress in 1949 and supported by partners, friends and champions nationwide, the organization helps preserve the places and stories that make communities unique.
